Heatwave ready, the sustainable way.
Wowzers have you seen the weather forecast for the rest of the week, tomorrow looks to be a particular scorcher. I thought therefore I would pop a few ideas down for you that will mean that you can cope with a heatwave in a more sustainable way. Not just for this week but going forward for the rest of the summer. Most of us will be having a COVIDCATION this summer so let’s hope that the universe is kind to us and blesses us with sunshine and if it does lets try and make sure the choices we make when we buy things are kind to the planet and kind to us.

Dress Cool.
Next up, let’s consider what we are wearing and dress kind. whilst staying cool during the heatwave. We will all be heading to the beach or pumping up those paddling pools ( don’t get me started on those!!) so I have concentrated on swimwear.
Vildinis is a sustainable fashion brand with a conscious, founder Ulla Vitting Richards says “ At VILDNIS, we all feel strongly about businesses taking responsibility for their environmental, social and economic impact – and we all want to make a positive contribution to the world. I particularly love their recycled plastic swimsuits and the jumpsuits.
Adidas Parley recycled Swimwear is one of my favorites and the work that Parley.TV do to clean up the ocean is fantastic, following the work of founder of Parley Cyrill Gutscht and taught me huge amounts about the plastic pollution situation globally. The collaboration with Adidas to make sports wear and trainers from Ocean waste is genius. A few of my favorites are the Womens BW ParleyC Bik Bikini.- below…
The Hero Bikini - this is also a great style for those of us who have got the paddle-board bug this summer. sporty and sassy and holds everything in!
For all you surf dudes out there then there are the Dock and Bay quick dry mens swimming trunks made from 100% recycled plastic bottles.
Sustainable Eye Wear
Protecting your peepers on a sunny day is super important and I’m loving this German sustainable eyewear brand Lemiel made from 100% bamboo thats made to last and for every pair bought they plant a tree. Even the case and the cloth are made from bamboo and are completely recyclable. Stylish and kind to the world.
The Audreys Cat eye sunglasses are a fabulous retro style but there are lots of other styles too in my Warriors on Waste Sustainability Shop in the Sustainable Fashion Section so fill your boots and have a snoop. Super affordable with a designer look. Winning!!
Footwear.
Lastly nobody likes a sweaty foot so flip flops are the order of the day. The brand that I love is Ipanema because it is a leader in socially responsible and sustainable manufacturing. Unlike many other manufacturers of flip flop footwear, Ipanema products are 100% recyclable and do not use any rubber from the rainforests. This dramatically reduces their waste, and enables them to recycle 99% of their waste products. Click here for a whole range of flip flop options in the sustainable fashion section that care for your feet and are kind to the planet
I could go on and on and one- I spend hours researching and finding options that make shopping kind and sustainable and weeding out those annoying greenwashing companies. That is why I have made my Amazon Warriors on Waste Shop so that I can pop the great things that I find and the brands that I work with all in one easy place for you to shop. As I always say try to club your orders together so you and get things delivered in one hit, thats way more sustainable that placing several orders on different days.
Oh and earlier I stopped myself from moaning about the fact that paddling pools so often end up in landfill after not much use. This however makes me feel better and if after this heatwave yours has had it, then send your old one to the Wyatt and Jack Inflatable amnesty so that they can be upcycled into fabulous bags, I have one and love it. Reuse repurpose and look individual- whats not to love.
Right thats it for now folks, stay hydrated from a reusable water bottle, slap on the suncream and enjoy the great outdoors. One things for sure you have no reason not to look bang on trend in a totally sustainable way this heatwave- you’re welcome xx
Love and Kindness
